HBIS Chairman Met Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Amarendu Prakash

October 16, HBIS Chairman Yu Yong met Amarendu Prakash, Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in Shanghai to discussed the issues of R&D, Capacity building and low carbon development and agreed to strengthen the communication and explore more opportunities in future. HBIS Vice President Li Yiren, General Manager (Business Planning)of SAIL Sanjay Kumar also attended the meeting.

Yu Yong gave a brief introduction of HBIS low carbon development and overseas development. He said India owned one of fastest growing economies in the world and Indian steel industry had great market and room for growth. HBIS is making great progress in short process steel making and hydrogen steel making technologies, including running pilot projects. HBIS also owns great overseas working experiences. The two organizations share great similarities in working scope and have room for cooperation. HBIS hopes that they could strengthen their cooperation and explore opportunities in short process steel making, hydrogen steel making and carbon reduction technologies and applications.

Amarendu Prakash presented the current development of SAIL and plans for future. He congratulated the successful business operation of HBIS 1.2million-ton hydrogen steel making pilot plant, first ever such project in the world and said that HBIS had made a great example for the world in short process steel making and hydrogen steel making technologies and their applications. SAIL could learn a lot. He hopes to pay a site to HBIS to witness the operation of those projects. SAIL and HBIS could find cooperation opportunities in procedure R&D and carbon reduction technologies.
